Enat Ethiopian, Northgate

Never having been to an Ethiopian restaurant, we were very very, very impressed!  Kinda felt like walking into a little cafe with football (real football) playing on the tv and what I can only assume was Ethiopian music playing in the background, which out two year old really enjoyed.  We over looked the menu, mostly not knowing much, but the server graciously pointed us to an entree that had a little bit of everything.

So off she went to make our dinner, and we were left to soak up the ambiance.... and really there wasn't much, so don't expect it when coming, but don't let the look of the place drive you out the door!  But when she came back with our HUGE plate full of pancake with little morsels of food on top, we were delighted!  The smell was incredible.  We each got our own pancake to use, because there are no utensils!!  Well worth it, and we'd certainly go again!

Pam's Kitchen, U-District

Labeled as Carribean, you are getting Trinidadian food. It has a definitive Indo-African taste along with it's more characteristic Spanish influence.  The roti bread is absolutely amazing, and made fresh for you! The Sorel (made from hibiscus leaves) and the Sorel rum punch wonderful. Without the alcohol, it's very refreshing, but watch out, there is a reason it's called a rum punch when the rum gets added!

I had the curried beef and hubby had the Pelau.  We got a side of string beans, and most of it turned out to be to spicy for our two year old.  But she did eat meat and plenty of bread which we ordered an extra one just for her.  The portions were pretty much right as we left with no doggy bag, which was probabably the most disappointing thing!

This is a MUST-Try place if you like East Indian and Afro-influenced flavors.

Opening Comments

We just moved to Greenlake, just off Ravenna Blvd. July 15th. As we are living in a tiny, tiny one bedroom apartment with half a kitchen, we've been eating out a lot.  We are quite adventurous, so I am thinking I'd like to share what we find here in Greenlake and the greater North Seattle area with anyone whom might find our reviews interesting.

Yes, you can get this on Urbanspoon, but you won't find a heaping dish of personality with a delicious side of wit!
